Saffron Road’s Lamb Saag with Basmati Rice is a traditional lamb and spinach dish made in yogurt based curry sauce. The dish comes with aromatic basmati rice on the side. Saffron Road claims lambs used in the dish are made from lambs raised in green pasture and 100% vegetarian-fed. All other ingredients are natural as well and halal-certified for Muslim eaters.

Lamb Saag is a classic frozen entrée, which is super easy to prepare- just microwave as directed. We were wonderfully surprised that the lamb was very tender unlike many other frozen meat dishes that tend to have chewy unnatural textures. This tenderness could be due to slowly simmering the dish with Indian spices and yogurt.

Here’s another secret of this lamb saag. This dish is cooked in a yogurt sauce so it is actually less greasy than lamb curry dishes you may encounter in pricier Indian restaurants. In fact, the calories in entire meal at just 300, which is surprisingly low for a lamb dish. The portion for an entrée is a perfect size for an average adult for normal meal. Although, the flavors are so great that it makes it irresistible for you not to open another box!

Over all, Lamb Saag is tasty on palate, full on stomach but light on the heart! Saffron Road has done a marvelous job at packaging homemade flavors of Indian food while keeping the well-being of eaters in mind.
