Jal Jeera (Cumin Lemonade)

 
About Jal Jeera

Jal Jeera (or Cumin Water) can be best described as Indian spiced and salty lemonade. It is one of the lesser known Indian drinks. It has an u nique flavor and can be a refreshing choice in hot summer day. Black salt (Kala Namak) is essential ingredient of this drink. If black salt is not available, substitute half cumin and black salt with chat masala. Alternate spelling: Jal Jira

 Ingredients

3 cups of ice water
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon mint leave paste
2 tablespoon lemon juice
½ teaspoon Black salt (Kala Namak)
pinch of sugar

Garnish:
Mint leaves

Optional Spices:
½ teaspoon cilantro (coriander) paste
½ teaspoon amchur (dry mango powder)

 Preparation
1 Mix everything together and served chilled with ice and mint garnish.
