About Charu

Charu, sometime known as rasam, is tamarind water made with spices. Charu is popular in Orissa and South India. Charu is an excellent cooler drink in summer with tart taste.  Often, it is considered as ayurvedic drink with health benefits.

 Ingredients

2 cups drinking water (chilled)

1 tablespoon tamarind puree or paste
2 tablespoons finely chopped onions
½ teaspoon amchur (mango powder)
¼ teaspoon (pinch) black pepper (optional)
Salt to taste

Ice cubes

 
 Preparation
1

Mix together and serve with ice cubes.
